Just a boy with an ambition

Phil Ivey poker pro A.K.A The Tiger Woods of poker is one of the best poker pro's in the game today. Phil grew up in New Jersey born at Riverside Ca. Phil Ivey learnt to play poker with his grandfather who would deal from the bottom of the pack and cheat just to show Phil the dangers of poker when playing a hustler. This sparked a true love for Phil Ivey and poker. By the time Ivey was a teenager at 15 the love had grown into more of an obsession telling teachers at school and family he was going to be a professional gambler when he grew up. At sixteen and over eight years experience Phil Ivey played his first adult game which he easily dominated and won. Which started him off down the road looking for worthy opponents and a poker bankroll worthy of his talents.

Illegal but was a must

Wanting to get into Casinos but only aged 18 Phil Ivey had no choice but to get himself a fake I.D  and do a tour of Atlantic city. Ivey started out Losing more than he won but learning by his mistakes. Phil didn't just stick to one type of poker. Limit, No Limit, Omaha, Stud and tournaments. He took up residence at the place he loved so much at the age of 20.

Time to prove a point

Aged just 21 Phil Ivey set out to prove himself as a legal player at last. A long wait of  13 years after falling in love with the game of poker. In the year 2000 where he made 2 final tables  Phil Ivey won his first WSOP bracelet playing in a $2,500 pot-limit Omaha event where he out lasted a range of the usual poker pro's One of which my favourite Dave "the devilfish" Ulliott, he also so outplayed Phil Hellmuth Jr.

Master of Variety

In 2002 Phil Ivey went on to play in Las Vegas. Sticking to high stakes cash games he quickly got recognised for what he is. "One of the most feared players in the game". He then made the move again this time it was west to Long Beech. CA. Ivey had a great year winning three WSOP bracelets for three different games Seven Card Stud, Stud Hi/lo and Shoe. This proved Phil Ivey to be an all round master of the game.

Now Phil-Ivey lives in the only place a poker pro should live Las Vegas. Where you will find him in the Bellagio playing high stakes games. Playing with other poker pro's Chip Reese, Doyle Brunson and Jennifer Harman. He is constantly winning the $4,000/$8,000 mixed game. Howard Lederer says before Phil Ivey's poker career is over he may well be seen as the best poker player of all time. His skills impress and put fear into just about every opponent Phil Ivey plays poker with.

Aims to win 30 bracelets

Playing a sparse schedule in 2005 Phil Ivey made two final tables in the world poker tour events. In June he won his fifth WSOP bracelet. When asked if he thinks he will over take poker pro Brunson and Chan both tied on ten bracelets each, he said "I would like to win 30 bracelets". Recently Phil-Ivey won two back to back tournaments in Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo Millions tournament, and the Fulltiltpoker.net Invitational.
