DAVID "THE DEVILFISH" ULLIOTT BIOGRAPHY

Life before poker

On April Fools day (April 1st) in the city of Hull, England David The Devilfish Ulliott was born. Before he became a famous poker professional the Devil Fish was often caught on the wrong side of the law. He became a major player in a safe cracking team which eventually landed him in one of  her majesty's prisons doing nine months. After doing his time the devil fish tried to toe the line and stay straight but sadly David the Devilfish turned back to David the criminal and added armed robbery and fighting in public to his offences and went back to jail for another eighteen months.

After his release this time he again tried to put his life of crime behind him, he met a girl and got married. David and his wife opened a pawnbrokers shop. By this time he had no intentions of doing any crime and concentrated making his pawnbrokers a success, which he did and expanded it into a jewellery business.

From boy to man

When the Devilfish was just a boy he was allowed to stay up late and watch the weekly card game his parents used to host. David started playing cards when he was in senior school (high school) in his dinner hour where he would hustle the other school kids dinner money and make a nice bit doing so. By the time the Devilfish was sixteen he quit school and went in search of work he got a job laboring with his first pay check he went to his first casino where he would play three card brag and learn the art of poker. After a couple of years The Devilfish was hooked on poker and was getting good at it too. After a while he was to good and people would refuse to play with him. So he had to turn to the professional side of poker, which he took to like a fish to water.

The Devil was spawned                     

By 1990 Devilfish played mainly London based tournaments with the occasional trip to the states. 1997 was the year the Devilfish really made a splash. He beat Nguyen in the $500 P/L Omaha in Las Vegas ( This is also when he got his name The Devilfish).  After that there was no stopping the Devilfish he also entered into his first WSOP in 1997 where he won a gold bracelet in the $2,000P/L Holdem event. David was certainly busy in 97 as he also had lots of final table and first place wins all over Europe in that year.

Not playing for lunch money now

Years went by with the Devil Fish winning lots of tournaments and having a few bad beats until 2003 where he made $589,000 in the $10,000N/L Holdem World Poker Tour Championship. Which is his biggest win up to now.

When at the tables the Devilfish is seen wearing lots of gold jewellery most of it hand made by himself. And has usually got his sunglasses on. He wears a smart suit or a tuxedo which coupled with his British accent makes him very James Bondish.

Seven kids!!!

David The Devilfish Ulliot still lives in his birthplace of Hull with his wife and seven children.
